Classes are held every Monday evening (except Bank Holidays): 7.00-9.00pm  Beginners

                                                                                                                   7.00- 10.00pm Intermediate

We are currently welcoming new members into the class.  Spaces are limited to 8 new students.


Women and men welcome.  Beginners and experienced practitioners are always welcome.



Students can expect to improve their fitness, control, strength, flexibility , gain confidence and discipline in a safe environment.  This is a traditional Shaolin martial art, with the emphasis on the overall physical, mental and spiritual development of the student.  Classes are challenging on many levels, but always contain an element of fun and have the safety of the participants as priority.

Over 16's only. Under 18's will need written consent from their parents or guardians 

Class content (can vary weekly):

  • Meditation  (standing and sitting)
  • Stretching  (legs, backs, shoulders & chest)
  • Self defence  (against 1 or more unarmed attackers...against armed attackers...if on the ground)
  • Conditioning  (of whole body)
  • Forms  (routines containing the core techniques and principles of the art)
  • Traditional weapons  (learn to use staff, broadsword, cane, spear and many more)
  • Pad work  (learn to punch and kick targets, hard, fast and accurately)
  • Fitness training  (circuits and strength training for the whole body)
  • Sparring  (practicing the techniques learnt in a controlled environment)
  • Qi Gong  (slow motion and gentle for health...also provides a balance to hard training)

On the first Monday of every month we focus on fitness training (anyone welcome, please call first to book)

  • 20-30 minutes of skipping
  • 45 minutes of circuit training
  • timed circuits
  • break approximately 9pm (at this point beginners can choose to stay or leave)
  • pad work
  • ground work (time permitting)
  • sparring, with and without body armour/protection


If you would like to train with us, please contact us.  You'll need suitable attire; tracksuit bottoms, t-shirt and plimsolls/trainers.  For the fitness training evening, you need the above as well as a skipping rope, gum shield and a friendly attitude ;-)

Please consult your GP if you have a medical condition before starting this or any other physical activity programme.  All participants will be asked to complete a waiver before taking part in classes.  Please contact us with your name and address to request a copy by post; in normal or large print, or to have one emailed to you (which must be read, signed and brought to the class).
